For GCSE Latin in Year 10, we will be focusing on Latin language (rather than the set texts, which we will look at in Year 11). We will be using the textbook that we have started using in Year 9, 'Latin to GCSE'.

There are two main elements to the GCSE course, just as there were with Year 9 Latin. These are:

  1. Grammar
  2. Vocabulary

For the grammar aspect, you will need to ensure that you have really secure knowledge of all of the Latin noun endings, for all 5 cases and all 3 declensions:

For the vocabulary aspect, you will ultimately be learning the full defined vocabulary list. Over the summer, please do the following: 

  1. Print off the list
  2. Go through this list and tick off the words you know already
  3. If you would like to do so, begin learning the list and MAKE SURE to learn all possible meanings for each word
  4. Make sure not to lose the list because you will need it for Year 10!
