Summer Work
I am really looking forward to teaching you next term, having fun exploring ‘An Inspector Calls’, learning about different theatre practitioners and doing lots of acting, in particular devising.
To prepare, you might want to watch this version of An Inspector Calls:

For your summer work, we would like you to look at these 4 pictures, that were created by the famous graffitti artist Banksy. Once you have looked at them all, we want you to select the one that inspires you the most. Use the picture to write a monologue ( a one person scene). Think about the character that you are playing, how does it link to the picture? Feel free to include stage directions too.
You might want to write about how nurses during the pandemic are now seen as super heroes, if the second picture has inspired you and therefore your monologue, could be as the nurse who is exhausted or her child that she doesn’t see, because she is working so hard etc.
If the last picture interests you, you could write a monologue about someone who is homeless and explore how they feel and why this has happened.
We want you to write the monologue and then perform it to the class when we return.

I hope you have a fantastic summer break. You have worked so hard this year and it is important that you relax and have fun.
If you get the opportunity to go and see a play or to watch a play online that would be a bonus, please make some notes about the acting and design and we can talk about it next term!
